DL-249 Introduction to Transits (Gochara) – Boney
In this introductory, beginner level class, we will review the use of transits in Vedic Astrology. Although dasas are used as the primary predictive tool in this system, there are very specific rules of interpretation for transits in both Birhat Parasara Hora Sastra and in Mantreswar’s Phala Deepika. The class will examine these rules of interpretation, the good and bad effects of transits, including short-cut rules of interpretation for benefics and malefics, as well as the use of Sarva Ashtakavarga (house strength) to predict benefic and malefic transit results. Transits from the Moon, Lagna, and Sun will be reviewed. In addition, certain planets operate differently in certain signs and at certain locations in signs and the effects of transits on dasa lords and house lords will be discussed. Finally, if time permits, we will look at certain special transit techniques that make use of karakas (indicators) and some techniques that make use of ancient Nadi astrology techniques.
