The symbolism of the planets lies at the very core of astrology. The planets are the great actors upon the cosmic stage of our being. In almost all astrological traditions, these are the gods, the divine beings. In Sanskrit they are called the grahas, meaning the “graspers” or “seizers”, for they can easily take hold of us and fill our lives with their archetypal power. This introductory class provides a survey of the meaning and symbolism of the nine planets (including Rahu and Ketu but excluding the outer planets) commonly used in Jyotish.
