Jyotish is, at its heart, a science and art of symbols and myths. The horoscope provides the astrologer with an abundant reservoir of symbolic clues for getting insight into life. These symbols and myths are sometimes used by well-read astrologers in order to analyze the personality, determine the career, and to determine other potentials in the chart. For predictions, however, many astrologers rely heavily on predominantly mechanical techniques. They say ”Your period planet is the ruler of the 2nd house and is placed in the 11th house. You will have an improvement in your income during this period.” Although this type of chart analysis is fundamentally sound, most astrologers do not take their analysis any farther, frequently overlooking important and completely obvious symbols and myths which make up the tapestry of the chart. In this class, Jim will demonstrate how to use the symbols and myths of the Nakshatras and Drekkans in order to fill in the picture-frame of prediction.
